THE NATURIST LEGACY FILES
Work Underway On New Land
Naturist Legacy Inc. took possession of our new land on Friday, October 1st. A small group of members began clearing trees, tall grass and brush that very day. A somewhat larger group was assembled on Saturday for more of the same. We deliberately limited the size of the weekend group because we wanted to (1) get a better sense of what needed to be done, (2) learn how best to do it, and (3) discover how to work together without getting in each other's way.Much was accomplished during these first three days of possession. The existing road was widened for many hundreds of feet off the highway by clearing and gathering brush and then mowing the newly cleared space. A storage area was created for the buildings and trailers that are being moved from Sandhill Pines this fall. Many of these trailers and buildings have in fact already been moved as of this writing.
Volunteers Invited This Weekend
Yes, we know it's Thanksgiving this weekend, but work will continue on Saturday, Sunday and Monday (weather permitting). If you're free and willing to give us a hand, we'd love to see you out on the land. We need people with lopping shears to cut small brush close to the ground. We need people with lawnmowers who are willing to mow newly cleared (but still rough) terrain. We need people who are willing to collect piles of brush and put it on a trailer for transport to the burn pit. We also need people with shovels who are willing to help with the removal of large rocks that pose a hazard in the drive.
Things you need to know if you wish to come and help:
(1) You'll be asked to sign a liability waiver before you can begin work. If you bring a lawnmower, please be aware that we cannot be held responsible for damage that may occur when mowing the rough terrain.
(2) There is poison ivy on site. If you are susceptible, please be sure to dress appropriately (pants, long sleeves, thick socks, gloves, etc.). If you are especially sensitive to poison ivy, we would recommend that you not come to help with this type of work.
(3) The existing roadways are not yet suitable for smaller cars that do not have good ground clearance. If you drive such a vehicle, please park it near the gate and either walk in or get a ride from someone with a truck.
