Our Park: Limited development
This is a historical record of the self-imposed development limitations published by Naturist Legacy on the "Our Land" and "Our Park" pages of their website from 2010 to 2026. Archived files and web captures collected by the Internet Archive are cited.
Context
In 2011, Naturist Legacy sought zoning permission from local authorities to operate a very small campground on its newly purchased land. A Development Prospectus and an Addendum were provided to both the Municipal Planning Board and Municipal Council. The Prospectus stated Naturist Legacy's desire to have "a small number of camping trailers" on their property. The Addendum added more detail to that request, explicitly proposing "12 to 20 member-owned travel trailers to be moved from our old location to unimproved land on our new property." A self-limited development "footprint" was proposed by Naturist Legacy that would "occupy only about 5% of our total land area." After carefully considering Naturist Legacy's Conditional Use application, Development Prospectus and Addendum, an Order was approved by Council on March 8, 2011.

Naturist Legacy created twenty seasonal campsites in 2011. They had previously sought permission from local authorities to locate "12 to 20 member-owned travel trailers" on their property. They had now reached the upper limit of what they had formally requested in their Development Prospectus and Addendum.
In 2012, the public expression of Naturist Legacy's self-imposed development limitations was edited to explicitly include "campsites" in the wording. Website visitors were now told that "We have intentionally limited the 'footprint' of our buildings, campsites and other infrastructure in order to maintain as much of the natural integrity of our land as possible."

Google satellite imagery from 2022 revealed that the "footprint" of Naturist Legacy's campground had increased by 60%. Twelve additional campsites had been added to the twenty that were created in 2011.

In 2026, website visitors were told that "We have intentionally limited the 'footprint' of our buildings, campsites and other infrastructure in order to maintain as much of the natural integrity of our land as possible."
Naturist Legacy published a major website revision on April 18, 2026. Their longstanding public promise to intentionally limit "the 'footprint' of our buildings, campsites and other infrastructure in order to maintain as much of the natural integrity of our land as possible" was no longer visible.
